LYF, also known as Reliance LYF, is an Indian mobile phone company headquartered in Mumbai, India. He produces VoLTE smartphones with support for 4G. It is a subsidiary of Reliance Retail, a division of consumer electronics Reliance Industries Limited. He works together with the parent company's flagship company, Gio.
According to Counterpoint Research, in May 2016 LYF became the fifth largest smartphone and the second largest LTE phone supplier in India.
LYF was established in 2015 by the telecommunications operator Gio. Released closely along the services of 4G Jio, in smartphones under the brand name it was planned to launch in November 2015. In January 2016, he launched his first 4G set supporting smartphones named after four elements: Earth, Flame (Fire), Water, and Wind.
In May 2016, the international controller of Trackpoint Research reported that LYF became the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in the Indian market, seizing a 7% stake in the fiscal quarter of January-March 2015-16. It was the second-largest provider of LTE phones after Samsung, superior to Micromax and Lenovo during the quarter. "In the first quarter of its existence, Lyf instantly rose to become one of the five largest smartphone brands in India in terms of shipment volumes," said Tarun Papak, chief analyst at Counterpoint. Reliance Digital sent about 1.7 million branded LYF smartphones in the first quarter of 2016.
LYF smartphones are manufactured by Chinese handset manufacturers ZTE Corporation, Intex, and ODM, such as CK Telecom Limited, Wingtech and Tinno. The company plans to release more phones from the manufacturers before launching its Jio 4G services later in 2016. As of early 2016, it was reported that 600 thousand smartphones were delivered to LYF from ZTE.
