According to Chipworks, the vaunted Galaxy S7 edge main camera uses Sony's 12-megapixel image sensor (presumably the IMX260 model). The new photomodule has a thickness of 5.4 mm, is equipped with a phase auto-focus system Dual Pixel and is characterized by a light-sensitive cell size of 1.4 μm. All this was said at the recent presentation of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, so there are no new revelations regarding the camera. Samsung chose gyroscope STMicroelectronics (model number K2G2IS) for the role of assistant in the image stabilization issue.
Ironically, the most interesting components of the Galaxy S7 edge are not hidden in the hidden compartments of the hull, but are in the most prominent place. The single-chip system Snapdragon 820, on which the smartphone is based, is hidden under the 4GB Hynix RAM. As the controller of the touch screen is used a solution of Samsung's own development - the S6SMC41X chip.
The microphone installed in the Galaxy S7 edge was produced by Knowles, the Murata module was supplied by Murata, the NFC controller manufactured NXP, the barometer - STMicroelectronics, and the wireless charging chip - IDT.
